{My First Try At Upholstery}

Several weeks ago my neighbors left some old armchairs out on the curb. My husband, knowing that I've been wanting to try my hand at upholstery, kindly offered to go get them for me. This one was a dark wood color with a horrid old green fabric {it was so brittle it just broke apart when I started gutting the chair.}

And so I recovered it for my daughter's room! This fun carnival print matches her new "pink & yellow" themed decor.
Okay, okay -- I'll show you more of a close up. It's just that, well, upholstery is HARD! And if you look closely, you'll see MANY flaws in our work. {Oh, and that "pillow" is just fabric, haven't sewn it yet.} I can't bring myself to post a picture of the back :-) It's not pretty...
After gutting the chair I painted it an antique white color. The wood finish just wasn't doing it for me. Anyway, it makes a great addition to her room! And since she's only 21 months, she can't judge my work too harshly {yet}.
Hopefully I'll get better at the upholstery! I have some more I'd like to cover with an outdoor fabric & use on the porch...
